MITCHEL WILSON
FOUNDER & UNIVERSAL
HAIR ART IST
Mitchel has been submerged in hair education for the vast majority of his 20 year career.
Raised in the Los Angeles skateboarding/ punk/ death rock- counter culture movements of the eighties; Mitchel first found identity as a rebel musician. Soon enough the pressures of getting a “normal” job caused him to focus on one of the more colorful aspects of music . . .HAIR. After all, the punk culture of DIY hairstyling was standard.
Mitchel religiously devoted 18 years to advanced hair education in both styling and barbering. This saw him teach to audiences globally, cut for trend setting collections, work behind the scenes in film & television, cut & style many musicians and celebrities, as well as working in the tents at coveted New York Fashion Week with designers Rag & Bone, Chris Benz, Prabal Gurung, The Blondes and Mara Hoffman amongst numerous others. In 2013 he provided the cutwork to a NAHA finalist collection.
After 20 years of being involved with the corporate side of professional hairdressing, Mitchel could no longer ignore the need to live up to his true rebel roots, flip corporate rock off and fulfill a lifelong dream of owning a groundbreaking space inspired by music, fashion and art.
In 2019, Subterranean Hair was manifested into a universal modern luxury hair space. A salon and barbershop that welcomes all walks of life and caters to their unique identity and lifestyle.
